Associate Professor Medhat Mohamed Ali Farahat
Medhat Mohamed Ali Farahat is an Associate Professor and expert in accounting with extensive professional and academic experience spanning several decades. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a specialization in Accounting from Alexandria University in 1985 with a “Good” grade. He continued his postgraduate studies and received his Master’s degree from Benha University in 2010 with a thesis addressing the challenges of determining accounting value for customs tax purposes under the GATT agreement and its impact on the state budget. In 2018, he earned a PhD in Philosophy of Accounting from Port Said University with a dissertation that proposed an integrated approach between flexible accounting systems, Six Sigma, and activity-based budgeting to improve performance in Egypt’s drinking water sector. He is highly proficient in English and holds certified language scores from different years. He is also skilled in computer applications and Microsoft Office programs and has completed numerous training courses that qualified him for various leadership and training roles, including time management, school self-evaluation, and professional training for teachers and supervisors of financial accounting.
He has held several academic positions, including Adjunct Lecturer of Accounting at the Higher Institute for Commercial Sciences in El Mahalla El Kubra, the Higher Institute for Administrative Sciences in Agami, and the Higher Institute for Qualitative Studies in Al-Haram. He is a certified vocational education trainer in administrative sciences by the Professional Academy for Teachers in Egypt. In the professional field, he worked as Financial and Administrative Manager at Al-Sharq Medical Clinic in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and as an accountant at the Mediterranean Contracting Company in Alexandria. He began his career as a trainee accountant at a certified public accountant’s office. He also served as a Senior Financial Accounting Supervisor at the Ministry of Education in East Alexandria.
He participated in several international academic conferences, including the 11th Scientific Conference at the Faculty of Commerce, Alexandria University, and the first conference of the Accounting Department at the same university. He presented research papers on topics such as flexible accounting and small projects under international financial reporting standards. He received multiple certificates of appreciation for his efforts in educational development and was awarded the title of Ideal Teacher in teaching business subjects for the academic year 2006–2007.
His scholarly contributions include a number of specialized books in accounting and auditing, such as Accounting in Partnerships, Accounting in Corporations, Governmental Accounting and Public Fund Auditing, Principles of Cost Accounting, Studies in Auditing, and Studies in Managerial Accounting. He also authored English-language titles like Accounting Studies and Business Studies, reflecting his diverse academic knowledge and professional engagement.
